Serving Bayfield, Douglas, an Ashland counties in Wisconsin. We are the Northland's premier Septic System Design and Installation experts.

Certified soil testing for Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (POWTS), aka Septic Systems, is mandatory in WI and must be completed before POWTS design begins. Soil is tested by excavating test pits, which provides a clear view of the soil horizons/layers. Each horizon is documented by depth, boundary type, Munsell color, redoximorphic features, texture class (percent of sand, silt, and clay based on the USDA soil classification system), sand particle size, rock fragments (size and quantity), ped structure (grade, size, and shape), consistence (crushing force), and root content.
With all soil test data, our certified soil testers determine loading rates for each horizon and depth to limiting factor. Once the soil report is complete, soil testers draw a scaled plot plan documenting where the soil test was completed, suitable asportation area, limiting factors, contours, percent slope, setbacks, layout of the property, etc...It is an elaborate process, but necessary to determine proper POWTS design and must be included with all sanitary permit applications. With a completed soil test, Polkoski Soil 2 Septic's POWTS designers begin the design and sanitary permit application process
Polkoski Soil 2 Septic uses advanced survey grade RTK GNSS devices to survey sites based on various WISCRS coordinate reference systems and WISCORS NTRIP, depending on the county. The coordinates are then imported into CAD software to create extremely accurate plot plans within 1cm accuracy (Horizontal and Vertical). The coordinate data file can be saved on a phone, computer or in the cloud forever in case someone needs to know the septic system location and depth...valuable information to have, especially if ownership changes and/or a buyer requests a septic inspection.
